While Denver Greeter is brand new, Founder Diane is not new to Global Greeter Network. As a New York City resident, she volunteered with Big Apple Greeter for 1.5 years prior to moving to Denver. I got in contact with Diane, and she immediately helped me navigate my way around Denver. Diane was thoughtful, caring, and was always willing to help. It’s hard to put your trust in a complete stranger, especially someone from literally the other side of the world. In regards to the trip itself, I had ideas for what I wanted to do, and to Diane’s credit, she helped me tick those off. In addition to that, Diane provided some incredible advice and recommendations for the ‘must-sees’ of Denver (such as axe throwing and Copper Mountain for snowboarding, which was a blast!) I genuinely enjoyed meeting and exploring this incredible city of Denver, I’m so very thankful for my new friend Diane and everything she did to help me. My third visit to NYC was a complete success with the help of Diane. Traveling solo, I already had an idea of what I wanted to see and do in NYC, but I also appreciate the invaluable advice you get from a local. I was connected with Diane prior to arriving so we had some time to plan around my schedule (I had Knicks tickets one night). Diane met me at my hotel on my first morning in the city and over a light breakfast and coffee, Diane broke down my day, hour by hour including subway stations, walking directions and even lunch suggestions where I had my first (and best) lobster roll ever! What I was most grateful for was Diane texting me throughout my day and making recommendations based on my location and time of day to ensure I didn’t miss my game while still seeing as much as possible. I first met Diane in 2015 when she was my Big Apple [New York City] Greeter. We got on so well, I made a special trip to see her again when she moved to Denver, Colorado where she was also my Greeter in 2017 (while Denver Greeter was still forming). From the mountains to the music, Diane really made my visitor experience amazing!
Before I travelled to Denver, Diane helped me organise my itinerary with great suggestions about how to make the most of my trip. When in Colorado, Diane tailored our time together around my interests, hobbies and the attractions I wanted to see. She showed me places I would never have discovered alone, and we did some cool activities together such as a jewellery making and visiting a massive, festive craft market. She was so enthusiastic and as a massive food fan she showed me the culinary highlights of Denver such as delicious desserts and tasty tacos!
Diane is such a kind and thoughtful person. She takes time to personalise your itinerary and really makes your trip unique. Soon after arriving in New York we were fortunate to meet with Diane, our Greeter. The morning we spent with Diane we walked the Highline and went to the Chelsea Markets. Diane was very friendly and patient in helping us to understand how the Subway worked.
Although we were only in New York for 5 days, Diane organized an itinerary for us which helped us maximize the use of our time. We visited the Intrepid Museum, the Empire State Building, the World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We also managed a Broadway show and some retail therapy! During our stay, Diane made it clear that she was always available to help us and in fact we did keep in contact via email whilst in New York.
